How to use it
- Pick the test. PFT, CFT, or both. Enter your age and sex.
- Open More options if it applies. Recruits are scored on the 17–20 table. Combat arms Marines can switch to the 2026 standard. Testing at 4,500 feet or higher uses the altitude tables.
- Enter your results. Points appear as you type. Times work as
22:30or2230. - Read the planner. Under each score it shows how many more reps or seconds each event needs, on its own, to reach the next class.
How PFT scoring works
The Marine Corps PFT has three events, each scored from tables in MCO 6100.13A. Your points depend on your performance, your age group and your sex. Add the three together for a total out of 300.
- Upper body: pull-ups or push-ups. Pull-ups can earn 100 points. Push-ups top out at 70, so choosing them caps the PFT at 270.
- Plank: one table for every Marine, whatever age or sex. 1:10 earns the 40-point minimum and 3:45 earns 100.
- Cardio: a 3-mile run. Marines 46 and older may row 5,000 meters instead. Younger Marines may row only if a medical provider recommends it for a medical condition, or if post-partum, and the CO or OIC approves.
Run and row tables list a score every 10 or 5 seconds. A time between two listed times earns the slower time’s points, because you earn a score by reaching it. The plank works the same way the other direction: 3:44 earns the 3:43 score. The official HQMC calculator counts it the same way.
Passing and PFT classes
| Class | Total score |
|---|---|
| 1st Class | 235 to 300 |
| 2nd Class | 200 to 234 |
| 3rd Class | 150 to 199 |
| Fail | Under 150, or any event below its minimum |
The thresholds are the same for every age group, and the CFT uses the same ones. Two things fail a test. One is a total under 150. The other is missing the minimum in any single event, however well the other two went.
The minimum used to be 120. Change 1 to the order raised it to 150 in March 2019. Meeting only the minimum in every event gives 120 points, or 140 for women doing pull-ups, whose pull-up minimum is worth 60. Either way that is short of 150, so you have to earn extra points somewhere to pass. For example, 6 pull-ups, a 1:23 plank and a 26:40 run for a 19-year-old man meet every minimum but total 139, which fails.
What earns 100 on the PFT, and the minimums
Straight from the table headers in Tables 2-2 and 2-5. Pull-ups and push-ups show the minimum reps and the reps for the maximum. The run shows the 100-point time and the slowest passing time.
| Men | Pull-ups (min – 100) | Push-ups (min – 70) | 3-mile run (100 – min) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 17–20 | 4 – 20 | 42 – 82 | 18:00 – 27:40 |
| 21–25 | 5 – 23 | 40 – 87 | 18:00 – 27:40 |
| 26–30 | 5 – 23 | 39 – 84 | 18:00 – 28:00 |
| 31–35 | 5 – 23 | 36 – 80 | 18:00 – 28:20 |
| 36–40 | 5 – 21 | 34 – 76 | 18:00 – 28:40 |
| 41–45 | 5 – 20 | 30 – 72 | 18:30 – 29:20 |
| 46–50 | 4 – 19 | 25 – 68 | 19:00 – 30:00 |
| 51+ | 3 – 18 | 20 – 64 | 19:30 – 33:00 |
| Women | Pull-ups (min – 100) | Push-ups (min – 70) | 3-mile run (100 – min) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 17–20 | 1 – 7 | 19 – 42 | 21:00 – 30:50 |
| 21–25 | 3 – 11 | 18 – 48 | 21:00 – 30:50 |
| 26–30 | 4 – 12 | 18 – 50 | 21:00 – 31:10 |
| 31–35 | 3 – 11 | 16 – 46 | 21:00 – 31:30 |
| 36–40 | 3 – 10 | 14 – 43 | 21:00 – 31:50 |
| 41–45 | 2 – 8 | 12 – 41 | 21:30 – 32:30 |
| 46–50 | 2 – 6 | 11 – 40 | 22:00 – 33:30 |
| 51+ | 2 – 4 | 10 – 38 | 22:30 – 36:00 |
Women’s pull-ups start at 60 points for the minimum rep count, not 40. Every other minimum is worth 40.
PFT vs CFT
The PFT measures general fitness. The CFT is built around combat tasks. Both are scored out of 300, and both use the same pass mark and classes.
| CFT event | What it is | Scored by |
|---|---|---|
| Movement to contact (MTC) | An 880-yard run | Time |
| Ammunition lift (AL) | Repeatedly lifting a 30-pound ammunition can overhead | Reps |
| Maneuver under fire (MANUF) | A 300-yard shuttle course with crawls, a casualty drag and carry, an ammunition can carry and a grenade throw | Time |
Choose PFT and CFT to score both at once. Each test gets its own class, total and planner.
The 2026 combat arms standard
From 1 January 2026, MARADMIN 613/25 scores the PFT for Marines in combat arms PMOSs on the male, age-normed tables, whatever their sex. They also need at least 210 points, which is 70 percent of the maximum. The CFT did not change. Every other Marine keeps the sex- and age-normed standards.
The message lists 32 PMOSs. They cover infantry, reconnaissance, LAR and Raiders (03xx), field artillery and fire support (08xx), combat engineers (1302, 1371), assault amphibian (18xx) and EOD (2305, 2336, 2339). Choose Combat arms PMOS under More options to check your code against the list.
Example: a 22-year-old female Marine in a combat arms PMOS does 7 pull-ups, a 2:25 plank and a 21:00 run. On the male 21–25 table that is 47, 69 and 81, for a total of 197, which is 13 short of 210. The planner shows what each event would need to close the gap.
The message also says that Marines who pass but miss 210 by the end of the reporting period go on remedial PT and may face PMOS reclassification or promotion restriction. It adds that no adverse or punitive action will be taken until further guidance is published.
Altitude
Units testing at 4,500 feet above mean sea level or higher use separate tables for the run, the row, the movement to contact and the maneuver under fire. The ammunition lift has no altitude table. On the run, every 100-point time is 1:30 slower at altitude: 19:30 instead of 18:00 for men aged 17 to 40.
How the planner works
A 19-year-old man does 10 pull-ups, a 2:00 plank and a 24:00 run. That scores 63, 59 and 63, for 185, 3rd Class. To reach 2nd Class he needs 15 more points, and the planner shows three ways to get them:
| Event on its own | Now | Needed for 200 | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pull-ups | 10 (63) | 14 (78) | 4 more reps |
| Plank | 2:00 (59) | 2:38 (74) | 38 seconds longer |
| 3-mile run | 24:00 (63) | 21:30 (78) | 2:30 faster |
Four more pull-ups is the cheapest way to 2nd Class here, which is often the case. For 1st Class at 235 he needs 50 more points, and no single event can find that alone. The planner says so rather than guessing a split between events.
Each line is exact. It walks the real table for your age group, so the reps or time it shows is the first one that reaches the target.
Where this calculator differs from others
- The passing score. The official HQMC online calculator and some others still count 120 to 149 as 3rd Class. The order has required 150 since 2019.
- Class thresholds. Some calculators vary the class thresholds by age. The order uses one set of thresholds for every age group.
- The CFT tables. The HQMC calculator’s PFT files match the order exactly. Its CFT files contain 11 values that differ from the order, in 9 age groups. They are also missing 14 rows at the bottom of 4 tables for Marines 51 and over, so a Marine at the order’s minimum gets an out-of-range error instead of 40 points. This calculator uses the order’s tables.
The tables here were taken from the order’s PDF by script, never retyped, and checked column by column before being compared with the HQMC files.

Frequently asked questions
How is the Marine Corps PFT scored?
Three events, each worth up to 100 points: pull-ups or push-ups, a plank, and a 3-mile run or 5,000 m row. Points come from tables set by age group and sex in MCO 6100.13A. Push-ups top out at 70, so a PFT with push-ups has a maximum of 270. The plank uses one table for everyone, from 40 points at 1:10 to 100 at 3:45.
What is a passing PFT score?
At least 150 points, and at least the minimum in every event. Classes are 1st at 235 to 300, 2nd at 200 to 234, and 3rd at 150 to 199, for every age group. The minimum used to be 120; Change 1 to the order raised it to 150 in 2019. A total of 139 fails even when every event minimum is met, and one event below its minimum fails the whole test.
How many pull-ups do you need for 100 points?
For men: 20 at 17 to 20, 23 from 21 to 35, 21 at 36 to 40, 20 at 41 to 45, 19 at 46 to 50 and 18 at 51 and over. For women: 7, 11, 12, 11, 10, 8, 6 and 4 across the same age groups. Push-ups can never earn 100; their maximum is 70 points.
What is the difference between the PFT and the CFT?
The PFT measures general fitness with pull-ups or push-ups, a plank and a 3-mile run. The CFT is built around combat tasks: an 880-yard movement to contact, two minutes of ammunition can lifts, and the maneuver under fire course. Both are scored out of 300 with the same pass mark of 150 and the same class thresholds. This calculator scores either test, or both at once.
What changed for combat arms Marines in 2026?
MARADMIN 613/25 made the PFT sex-neutral for 32 combat arms PMOSs from 1 January 2026. Those Marines are scored on the male age-normed tables and need at least 210 points. The CFT did not change. For example, a 22-year-old female Marine in a combat arms PMOS with 7 pull-ups, a 2:25 plank and a 21:00 run scores 197 on the male tables, 13 short of 210.
Why can this calculator disagree with the official HQMC calculator?
Because it follows the order where the two differ. The HQMC calculator still classes 120 to 149 as 3rd Class, but the order has required 150 since 2019. Its PFT tables match the order exactly, but its CFT files have 11 wrong values across 9 age groups and are missing 14 rows for Marines 51 and over. This calculator uses the order's tables. Your unit's official record is what counts.
