About FreeToolBank

FreeToolBank is a set of free online tools that run inside your browser. What you paste or open stays on your computer.

Why that matters

Most online tools work by sending your data to someone else’s server, doing the job there, and sending the result back. It’s the easy way to build them. It also means that formatting a config file or converting a spreadsheet involves handing that file to a company you’ve never dealt with, and hoping their retention policy is sensible.

Usually the file is boring. Sometimes it has an API key in it, or a client’s invoice, or an export with real customer names. Most people have hesitated over a paste button at some point, wondering whether this particular thing should really go to a random website.

Doing the work in your browser removes the question. There’s no upload, so there’s nothing to keep, leak, or hand over. It’s also faster, because there’s no round trip. Results appear while you type.

Some tools can’t work this way. We’d rather skip those than quietly break the promise.

What we’re doing differently

The free-tools market has a shape you’ll recognise. Ads packed around the edges. The actual tool pushed below a wall of text. A free version crippled just enough to sell you the paid one: a file-size cap, a daily limit, a watermark across your output.

We’re going the other way on each of those.

The tool comes first. It sits at the top of the page, above the explanation. If you already know what you’re doing, you never scroll.

No limits. No size caps, no daily quotas, no watermarks, no account. Free is in the name, so the tools stay free. Not as a trial.

Light pages. No frameworks, no webfonts, no third-party scripts. Small pages load fast on bad connections and old phones, which is where a lot of people actually are.

Accessible. Everything works by keyboard, works with a screen reader, and meets WCAG 2.2 AA contrast in both light and dark. We’re building accessibility tools. An inaccessible site would be embarrassing.

How this gets paid for

Worth being upfront about. The tools won’t be gated, because that’s the whole premise. In time the site may carry contextual recommendations, some light advertising, or paid features around the tools: saving projects across devices, branded exports, batch processing, team features.

The line is that the tool always works, fully, for free. Anything paid sits next to it, not in front of it.

Who it’s for

Developers, designers, accountants, freelancers. Anyone who needs to do one specific thing to a piece of data and then get on with their day.

Also anyone facing accessibility or compliance obligations who needs somewhere to start that doesn’t cost enterprise money. One caveat there, and we’ll repeat it on every compliance tool: automated accessibility checking finds roughly 30 to 40% of real barriers. Our tools are a useful first pass. They aren’t a certificate and they aren’t legal advice.

Where things stand

This site is new and there’s no tool catalogue yet. The first tools are being built now.

Each one gets researched and built on its own rather than churned out in batches. A handful of tools that are genuinely good beats fifty that aren’t, and the fifty are what everyone else already has.

If a tool you need is missing, or one that exists doesn’t do what you need, tell us. The contact page has the address.
